Novak Djokovic not ‘going to stop at 24’ majors, claims Andy Murray

Andy Murray has claimed that Novak Djokovic is not going to stop at 24 majors. The Serbian lifted his 24th Grand Slam title after beating Daniil Medvedev in the US Open final at the Arthur Ashe Stadium, in New York on Sunday.

With this win, Djokovic equaled Magaret Court’s tally of 24 Slams and created history. Djokovic, 36, is still fit as a fiddle and he is hungry for more Majors.

The veteran has been ticking the right boxes and the young generation hasn’t been able to keep him at bay. Djokovic still has a lot of fuel left in his tank and he looks unstoppable at this moment.

In fact, the Serbian was beaten by Carlos Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final and many pundits including Novak Djokovic’s former coach Boris Becker, felt it was a changing of guard in Men’s tennis but Murray disagreed with the same.

Andy Murray said on BBC Sports, “I said that after Wimbledon, everyone was saying it was a changing of the guard, but it wasn’t for me. It was quite clear Novak had won two of the first three slams and was very, very close in the final of Wimbledon.”

Murray added Djokovic has once again proved he is the best player in the world after winning the New York Major.

“He proved that he’s the best player in the world again yesterday and like I said it’s up to the youngsters to improve enough to take him,” Murray mentioned.

Murray has backed Djokovic to keep going strongly at the top level.

“I don’t think he’s going to stop at 24 titles but you never know how long it will last. Physically, motivation, whether someone like Alcaraz improves – he’s an amazing player Alcaraz, he’s brilliant, but to do what Novak is doing on a consistent basis is different,” he said.

Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray have played against one another on 36 occasions, with the former winning 25 times and the Brit winning 11 times.

Djokovic has been at his best and has once again proved his worth. The Serbian will aim to continue the good show at the top level.
